jasnoo

How to use jasnoo?

You organically write every idea, goal, or problem that pops into your mind daily. In practice, everything you wrote down is either in your Inbox or Infinite Canvas. When you open your list of Priorities or Next steps you automatically see what to focus on next.

Of course, most of the time there will be too many things to do. So jasnoo gives you tools to eliminate dead-ends quickly and what can wait. You will probably still have too many goals.

That is when you use the prioritization wizard to get your final list of priorities. If you know what is your most important vision, this is easy. If you don't, jasnoo forces you to clarify what matters to you.

Weekly review

Once a week do the steps listed below, preferably on whichever day is your off day.

  1. List every goal you want to achieve, any problem you want to solve, and any task that is nagging you. Don't overthink it, get it all out of your head.
  2. For each goal and problem, list the problems that cause them.
  3. For each problem you just added, write out its root causes. Go deep however many levels you feel are necessary. You will feel "Hey I can handle that" when you get to the bottom of the problem.
  4. You will probably have a huge list of problems. Trim it down by choosing what is a dead-end or what can wait. Don't overthink it, trust your gut, you can always change it later.
  5. For each problem left, write out a list of possible solutions. These are the goals that you are going to achieve.
  6. This is the most important step of them all. After you have gotten everything out of your head, you need to decide what vision you care about the most that you want to bring to life. What is one thing that you want to achieve more than anything else?
  7. Rank goals using your vision as a criterion. If the goal helps you bring your vision to life, it should be before the other. That's it. There can be no ties. By the end, you should have a list that feels right. If it doesn't feel right, repeat this step or change your visions to what actually matters to you. If it still doesn't feel right, don't worry, let some time pass, and then do the steps again. After a few times using this method, you will see themes starting to occur.

Daily review to get rid of distractions

This is simple. You have your list of priorities. Start with the top of your priorities and write concrete, tangible steps you do in the physical world to achieve that. And then you do those steps.

If your priorities got confused, that's okay, life happens, and we'll fix it. Start the prioritization process at any moment, and new priorities will appear.

Create recurring tasks

Everyone has repeat tasks that we need to do regularly. Taking out the trash, paying the bills, cleaning the house, etc. Setup recurring tasks to remind yourself in times when it's important and concentrate all your energy on things that matter.

This sounds too simple

Yes, it is simple. But simple is not the same as easy. It's easy and simple to do it once. What's hard is to do it consistently. Even if you create your perfect plan, life will happen. Every time you iterate on your priorities, you will be forced to cut things that don't contribute to your vision. And that's ok.

Why not use any other tool to do this

Feel free to use any tool that helps you. You can do all these steps with sticky notes, a whiteboard, or plain paper. jasnoo was built to make this workflow as easy as possible. The mission of jasnoo is to help people focus on what matters. How you implement that is up to you.
